Bengal: BJP panel meets ‘victims’ of post-poll violence, slams TMC | Kolkata News

A four-member BJP team, including senior party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Biplab Deb, Sunday met the victims of alleged post-poll violence in West Bengal.

The central team, which arrived in Kolkata on a two-day visit, met BJP workers at Maheshwari Bhawan in central Kolkata, where they have taken shelter to escape the alleged atrocities of the ruling Trinamool Congress supporters.

“The TMC has not even spared women and children. Those who supported the BJP have been targeted. I want to ask Mamata ji what is happening in your state? Why do such things take place after every election? These people have the right to go back to their homes,” said Prasad.

Senior TMC leader Santanu Sen said that the BJP is doing drama over the issue. “After being rejected by the people of Bengal in Lok Sabha polls, the BJP is raising this issue to stay relevant in politics. The more they malign our state’s image, the more they will be alienated,” said Sen.

The BJP had alleged that its supporters were assaulted across the state by TMC supporters after Lok Sabha election results.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari with at least 100 victims of the alleged violence met Governor CV Ananda Bose at Raj Bhavan Sunday.
