4 injured after ‘drunk’ teen driver rams car into auto | Pune News


In yet another alleged case of “drunk and drive”, a speeding car collided with an autorickshaw, leaving four people injured on the Porwal road in Dhanori in the early hours of Monday.

Autorickshaw driver Ashok Payal lodged an FIR at the Vimantal police station against the car driver, identified as Aryan Chaturvedi (19), a resident of Dhanori, alleging that he was drunk.

Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil confirmed that they have arrested the teen car driver.

Police said prima-facie Aryan, who has passed his HSC exams, consumed liquor while driving the car. Police collected his blood samples and the medical report is awaited.

Police said Ashok Payal came to an ice cream parlour on Porwal road with his family members in his autorickshaw. While they having ice cream sitting in the autorickshaw, a speeding car hit them around 12.30am.

Four people–Amruta Ashok Payal (12), Jyoti Payal and Sanika Salvi, and a man identified as Saymon Salvi–were injured in the incident.

Locals at the spot nabbed Aryan, thrashed him and handed him over to the police. Meanwhile, the injured persons were taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. A court sent the accused to police custody for four days.

Meanwhile, in another accident, a 12-year-old boy was knocked down by a motorcycle and a four wheeler while he was crossing the road near his residence in Awhalwadi around 12.05 pm on Sunday. An FIR was lodged at the Lonikand police station. Police sub inspector Vaijanath Kedar is investigating the case.
