As BJP workers stage protests, AAP says saffron party ‘sponsored Delhi water crisis’ | Delhi News

A day after the Delhi Water Minister Atishi accused former Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Ramesh Bidhuri of leading an attack on the Delhi Jal Board office in Chhattarpur and claimed it was a conspiracy, the BJP on Monday continued to protest against the AAP-led Government amid the blame game.

As of Sunday, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) reported a water production of 901 million gallons per day — 55 MGD less than the actual capacity.

During a protest in Mukherjee Nagar, the BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, “Delhi Jal Board is a department of the Delhi government. What kind of water minister is Atishi? Only to sell water to ‘tanker mafias’? This is a very big question. That’s why we are protesting with the people of Delhi.”

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the party will “continue to attack the AAP till everyone gets water in Delhi” amid the party’s protest over the water crisis in Geeta Colony. Sachdeva also accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party of corruption.

On his part, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP, Delhi Lieutenant Governor, and the Haryana Government of conspiring and sponsoring the water crisis in Delhi.

During his press conference, a video showing Ramesh Bidhuri allegedly leading a violent protest and participating in vandalism of the DJB office in Chhattarpur was also shown. Singh said, “They shamelessly attacked the DJB office… They do not want the water crisis to be solved. They want it to get worse”.

Singh also alleged that this has exposed the conspiracy of the BJP government and their hatred towards the people of Delhi. He also said no investigation had been made on this matter.

In response to a question regarding the BJP accusing his party of failing to curb the water crisis, Singh replied, “The Haryana government is headed by the BJP. Why is nobody questioning the CM on the release of water to Delhi? This is a water crisis favoured by the BJP… It is a sin to stop the water of the people.”

On Saturday, the Delhi Congress also demonstrated against the AAP government through ‘matka phod’ protests to address the water scarcity situation.
